Newfoundland Medal

This medal was awarded to Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen that joined the British Forces and served in WW2. They had to have been from Newfoundland or Labrador. Newfoundland didn't join Canada till 1949..........and many citizens of that lovely area wonder to this day why they did!

This is officially named 'The Newfoundland Volunteer Service Medal'. They were numbered not named and rarely do you find the associated name. In this case I got this from the son of the fellow it was awarded to...............he was in the Royal Navy on the Aircraft Carrier HMS 'Ameer'.

The bar of Medals was also his.
